As a dedicated manager, personal success can often be felt when the team is successful.
Mangers strive to keep employees engaged, challenged, happy and most of all, productive. At times, managing a team and working to keep everyone motivated is a challenge in itself. When a Manager’s mood declines the ripple effect quickly comes in to play and the mood of the team can quickly be affected. When working so diligently to motivate a team, it is often difficult to continue the effort when no one is motivating the manager. If a Manager must keep their team motivated and engaged on a daily basis, they may find it difficult when motivation is lacking in that manager. When a manager lacks motivation it is time to re-evaluate what it is that motivates that person. While motivating employees, managers can easily find ways to keep themselves motivated. As a dedicated manager, personal success can often be felt when the team is successful. Motivational Techniques for ManagersAs a Manager who is in-tuned to their team’s needs, a person in a leadership position often finds satisfaction when delivering a successful pep talk. When challenging employees, and in turn seeing those employees meet those challenges, a manager may feel increased motivation. When a team performs beyond expectations, a manager is often the driving force behind those accomplishments. In all of these cases, managers should take note and recognize that the accomplishments of their employees, when empowered and encouraged by a great manager, are accomplishments that can be shared by that same manager. A manager can encourage and motivate employees and in turn feel increased motivation from the results that come from that encouragement. Momentum can easily be built from one team member to the next. Who Motivates the Manager?Supervisors or Managers may have no one who is working to keep them motivated and engaged, but that does not mean that those individuals cannot stay motivated themselves. Consider the accomplishments of the team and recognize that as a manager, these accomplishments should be shared. A team’s success is certainly the success of the manager’s as well. When a manger empowers team members to work autonomously, shows appreciation and recognition when appropriate, and encourages creativity and innovation, that manager is driving productivity amongst the team. Motivating others and seeing the rewarding outcome should provide so much motivation for a manager. Indeed, this process can gain enough momentum where a manager’s team is motivating the manager and in turn the manager is motivating the team.
