When employees feel a strong sense of job ownership, they will make better business decisions, which will improve the bottom line.

Businesses that employ happy people are far more likely to be successful and see larger profits than their competitors. This is due to the power behind empowering employees. When employees feel a strong sense of job ownership, they will make better business decisions which will improve the bottom line.

Empowered Employees Will be Highly Productive

Employers who show support and encouragement for their employees will foster a highly productive environment. This is contrary to the more prevalent belief that successful managers or leaders must exercise control. According to the article “The Psychology of Success” by Keith McFarland (Nov., 2005), successful leaders exhibit a “willingness to sacrifice anything necessary to achieve a goal.” Managers can lead a successful team by empowering the team members, stepping aside and allowing for both successes and failures.

Individuals are capable of contributing a significant amount to their organization. Most people want the opportunity to do just that. When employees feel they are contributing and that they are trusted to make important decisions on behalf of the business, they are likely to make these decisions with the best interest of the company in mind. Employees who feel a sense of job ownership will also be more loyal over time than those who are micromanaged and not permitted to make everyday decisions.

Employees are the Most Important Asset to the Business

Businesses that focus on employee incentives and benefits as well as employee recognition and appreciation, are fostering an environment where people like to go to work. Creating a great place to work and showing employees that they are valued and appreciated will foster a highly productive environment. Increased productivity will certainly improve the company’s bottom line.

Empowering employees will also foster initiative, creativity and problem solving. Imagine the benefits of additional talent seeking solutions to evasive problems. Empowering individuals will offer this benefit. Employees will have a personal interest in solving problems and achieving corporate goals.

According to the article “Empowering Employees” published by The National Federation of Independent Business, “From superior customer service to a healthy bottom line, empowered employees will make your business stronger and more successful.” In order for this to work, however, leaders within the organization must offer trust and support to their employees.

Employees who feel empowered will feel good about where they work. These individuals will be more loyal and contribute significantly to the overall success of the business. Employees who feel that they are truly trusted and appreciated will give back to the organization and the business will benefit. Happier employees contribute to a stronger bottom line.
